My name is Elisabeth Pedersen. I am a 36 year old designer who has designed for a living since 2007.

I grew up on a small island called Hundvåg just north of the city centre of Stavanger, where I live with my son, husband and Mio the cat.

I am passionate about combining function, interaction and form to design user experiences that make people happy. I love designing intuitive and beautiful products. I've also been known to dabble with paint and a paint brush once in a while.

Bouvet Stavanger is where I spend my days as a digital designer.

I got
mad skillz;)

The graph shows an estimate of my skill level for my favourite tools.

I believe in research, prototyping, content driven design, user needs and goals.

Risk assessment tool

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

Risk assessment tool is a product created by SDIR. The purpose of the tool is to make vessels a safer workplace by helping you create systematic risk assessments for various vessels and modes of operation. The tool is available for everyone free of charge.

The purpose of this project was to improve the user interface. The risk tool had been in use for a while and the feedback SDIR had received was that the tool was not as understandable nor as easy to use as they would have liked. We started mapping the user challenges in today's version by talking to users and conducting user tests. The first user test was to identify the challenges in the existing solution. Further user tests were performed to see if the changes we made were a success. For the purpose of the user testing we created a clickable prototype. The tests revealed the need for a few changes to the design, mostly to support interaction within the solution.

Skangas

Webdesign

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

This customer was really easy to work with. She was super engaged and listened to all the advise I gave her. We started with a small preliminary project where I collected as much information as possible about audiences, business goals, what works and what does not on the old web site etc. I then made a mind map with all the information, and started sketching/prototyping. When the customer was satisfied with the prototype I added graphics.

Skangas AS was established in 2007, and is owned by Gasum holding 51%, and Lyse holding 49%. Skangas delivers LNG with ships and tanker trucks to the Nordic market.

Descartes4

Application

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • Rolf (interaction designer) and I were given the assignment of redesigning the user interface and transform a desktop application into a web application. We started by collecting as much information as possible about the project. Though we could use the desktop application as a basis for the new project, it was not without its flaws. We had to determine what the users' challenges were with the old system in order to draw a better, web based, system.

    Descartes web

    Webdesign

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • The purpose for the Descartes website is to act as a marketing window for the product Descartes4. The design of the website is based on the look and feel of the Descartes application. The goal of this was to establish a recognizable brand, both in the marketing material and in the application itself.

    SKAGEN Funds

    Buy and sell funds application

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • The main aim of the project was a complete redesign of Skagen's buy and sell funds application. Included in the project scope was the operation of transferring the application from an external service provider to an inhousebusiness platform.

This project was a dream to work on as I got to work exactly as I prefer, driving the conversation with the stakeholder from early on. He was very enthusiastic about the project, and already had a lot of good ideas.

The process consisted of collecting information, prototyping, design and user testing, followed by development. Skagen had set up their own user testing room, where they invited different types of users, from experienced users to new ones, different ages and genders. This was very useful as there was a wide variety of prospective users for the system, and it was crucial that the program was easy to understand and use.

SKAGEN AS is an independent Norwegian management company owned by senior management whose portfolio managers have a long and successful history in managing equity and fixed income funds. Their sole business is fund management, and their objective is to become the world's best fund manager in terms of risk adjusted returns, communication and service.

    SKAGEN Funds

    Pension calculator

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • SKAGEN funds wanted a pension calculator to help customers calculate their expected pension and recommended savings amount. They also wanted the calculator to suggest stock portfolios based on the customers desired level of risk.

This project was a dream to work on as I got to work exactly as I prefer, driving the conversation with the stakeholder from early on. He was very enthusiastic about the project, and already had a lot of good ideas. After collecting as much information as I could, I started prototyping. Having daily communication with the customer resulted in a smooth design process. In the final stages of the delivery graphics was added, according to Skagens graphic profile.

    MaiJazz

    Webdesign

  • Project role: Graphic designer

  • The MaiJazz webpage needed a facelift. In close collaboration with the interaction designer and the customer, I added the graphic design in accordance to the updated MaiJazz profile. The challenge in this project was that I only had two days to complete the job.

Maijazz is the oldest and greatest music festival in Stavanger and will celebrate its 26th anniversary in 2014. Since the first festival in 1989 MaiJazz has developed to be one of Norway's leading jazz festivals presenting international jazz stars and the best in national and local jazz every year. Approximately 200 volunteers are gathered to arrange about 40 concerts on 20 stages in and around Stavanger, that can accommodate from 80 to 1800 people.

    Nortura Medlemsportal

    Application

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • Nortura needed a system where they could register the animals they want so sell, buy or send to slaughter. Therefore, they went from old school paper forms to a fully automated system on the web. Olavstoppen who is Bouvet`s daughter company was the lead designers in this project, and I got involved in the middle of the project. My task was to finalize the work Olavstoppen had started. This involved making mockups, and adding graphic design to the mockups in accordance with Nortura’s profile manual.

Nortura SA Norway's leading supplier of meat and eggs. They supply the country's major brands.

Nortura ensures that consumers all over the country have the same selection of quality products to choose from. The group has a turnover of NOK 20,6 billion. They have 5,600 employees in different industries in 28 municipalities all over the country. The group is organized as a cooperative owned by 18,000 Norwegian farmers.

Nortura - App for final inspection of product

    App

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • When the animals is slaughtered they are sent to the cutting department in Nortura. Here they are slicing the meat into different products. There are a lot of regulations Nortura has to follow, and there are inspectors that continuously check that everything is done accordingly. The inspectors was used to use paper forms to register errors and omissions. Then they had to find a computer to enter the information into a system which generates reports.

The app simplifies this process by sending the information directly to the reporting system. The inspectors can also take pictures with comments, to make the reports more detailed. We started by collecting as much information as possible about the project. The most useful part of this work was a field trip we had to the cutting department in Nortura, to see how the inspectors worked. This gave me a good foundation for the remaining design work.

    BT360 business tool

    Application

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • BT360 is a platform with tools for economic insight, business control and development

    Oslo Taxi

    Intranett

  • Project role: Interaction and graphic designer

  • Oslo Taxi requested a clean looking and easy to use Intranet in Oslo taxi profile colours. Oslo Taxi had experience with the design process we recommended.

When we met, Oslo Taxi had already started the discovery process. They had found and interviewed their target group, and also brought out statistics from Google Analytics. Together we went trough the users journey and we also found the intranets core pages.

We asked Oslo Taxi about their current situation, the challenges and their golds for the new intranet.

Afterwords I designed a clickable wireframe prototype. Once approwed I added colours. Oslo taxi did some simple testing on the prototype before the developers started implementing the solution.

    Unibuss tur

    Webpage

Unibus tour wanted a website where the main focus should be the presentation of the different bus types and tours they offer. Booking a bus should also be easily accessible throughout the site. These goals were accomplished.
I worked hard to make this a great site but the project was very limited on time and resources.

    Paintings/Illustartions

    Paintings

Here is a selection of my paintings. I mainly paint abstract backgrounds with naturalistic elements in the front. And I've added a couple of black and white illustrations as well.
